• Midnapore College 

Midnapore College (Autonomous) was founded in 1873. 

This college played a pioneering role in the spread of higher education. The past of the college is a saga of meritorious services to all walks of life. Under the aegis of the British government the college started disseminating Western education in the interest of rational and scientific education. The college became an independent part and parcel of Bengal Renaissance. Teachers and students of this college also played an important role in the freedom movement of India. Three teachers of this college, namely, Tarak Das Ghosh, Thakopada Biswas and Binoy Jiban Ghosh; were dismissed from service for their involvement in the indian independence movement during 1933. This College was the breeding ground of many freedom fighters. Five students of this college, namely, Dinesh Gupta, Pradyot Kumar Bhattacharya, Mrigendranath Dutta, Brajakishore Chakraborty, and Nirmal Jivan Ghosh, became martyr during the indian independence movement. 

After the independence of India in 1947, this college became a government sponsored degree college in 1956 and got the recognition of University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1957. In 1985, the college's affiliation changed from Calcutta University to Vidyasagar University. Recently University Grants Commission has given Midnapore College an autonomous status from 2014 to 2015 Session.

• K.D College                                                                          

K.D. College of Commerce and General Studies, Midnapore, at the time of its inception in 1961, was the only pioneering institution imparting commerce education only, in both Purba and Paschim Medinipur district. With the march of time, new feathers have been added to the glorious crown of the college with the incorporation of Arts and Science streams. As an institution of success and glory, the college is ably marching ahead catering to the needs of the students in particular and society at large. The College was accredited ‘B+’ grade by the NAAC peer Team, in its second cycle of visit, in 2017.                                                                The college offers three years Bachelor Degree in both Honours and General Courses in Commerce & Arts as well as Honours in Science as recommended by the West Bengal State.

• Raja Narendra Lal khan women's College    This college began its journey from the historic Gope Palace on 22 August 1957. Gope Palace, built in 1895 during the time of Raja Narendra Lal Khan, the king of Narajole is now the administrative building of the College. Anjali Khan, wife of Sri Amarendra Lal Khan of the Narajole Royal Family, donated the Palace for the establishment of this College named, after the palaces' founder. • Midnapore Law College                                             Midnapore College took initiative to establish a Law College at Midnapore.Accordingly the Principal of Midnapore College approached to the State Government for permission to establish a Law college at Midnapore.The State Government of West Bengal by an order bearing No. 484 – Edn (CS), dated 31.03.2000 issued permission to the Principal of Midnapore College to establish a Law College styled as Midnapore Law College strictly on self financing basis. Midnapore Law College was thus established by Midnapore College under the stewardship of Sri Mukul Ranjan Ray who served Midnapore College as Principal from 1982 to 2001.The Vidyasagar University authority granted affiliation to Midnapore Law College to teach both Three Year LL. B. & Five Year B. A. LL. B. (Hons.) Courses with the approval of the Bar Council of India. This decision of the University was communicated to the Principal of Midnapore College on 17th July, 2000. After this the Bar Council of India was approached to grant approval of affiliation.On obtaining the approval of affiliation from the Bar Council of India, Midnapore Law College started admitting the students in both Three Year LL. B. & Five Year B. A. LL. B.(Hons.)Course from the session 2002-03. The Law College started functioning in one academic building of Midnapore College, named as Netaji Janma Satavarsiki Siksha Bhavan, within Midnapore College premises. In 2003, Midnapore Law College was sifted to its own campus at Jharnadanga, Rangamati near Midnapore Railway Station.On 30th May, 2003 Midnapore Law College obtained permanent affiliation of the Vidyasagar University. The Bar Council of India also accorded permanent approval of affiliation to Midnapore Law College on 17th July, 2004. The University Grants Commission also recognized the College under Section 2 (f) as communicated through the letter of the UGC, bearing No. F. 8 – 98/2008 (CPP – I) dated 22nd May, 2008.
• Midnapore art college                                               “Midnapore Art College” is a general degree art college founded in 2001. It is located in Midnapore, West Bengal, India. This is the only college which offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) degree in whole south Bengal.

• Vidyasagar teacher's training college  The history of the college began in 1966, when the ex-students of Midnapore College in their annual reunion visualized the necessity of improving the art of teaching. Though a training college and a few training departments in the general colleges were imparting training to the teachers and would be teachers of the Junior-high, High & Higher Secondary Schools of the then undivided district, there was no provision for the training of science teachers. The said ex-students felt the need of establishment of a training college, which would impart training to the science teachers. They set up steering committee with the then District Magistrate as its chairman, the principal-secretary, Midnapore College as its convener secretary, a few ex-students of Midnapore College, a few elites, educationists of the town as its members. The consensus of discussions combined with untiring efforts resulted the college into being from the 1st July,1968 with the sanction of affiliation in Arts and Science [ co-educational] by the university of Calcutta with an intake of 220 [Deputed students-100 & Fresher students-120] trainees.

  In 1969,  the college purchased its own land of   1.78 acres  from Smt. Nalini Dinda, w/o Sri Pulin Bihari Dinda at Burdge Town, Midnapore. From the 1st June, 1985, the college affiliated to the Vidyasagar University with the same Arts and Science subjects. • Pratima institute of nursing and health sciences             It is a nursing college situated in Rangamati beside Midnapore Law College. • Midnapore City College 

Midnapore City College is Located in bhadutala 6 km away from Midnapore town. It is found by Moraine Human Resources Development Organisation which is a non profitable organisation.
